Race

Biologists and social scientists agree that race is a social concept, with no biological meaning. There is not one specific characteristic, trait or gene that sets apart members of one presumed race from all members of another presumed race.

Radio

Since its birth in the early 20th century, radio has used the transmission and reception of electromagnetic waves of radio frequency to carry sound communications from a single broadcast station to listeners with radio receivers. From the 1920s to the 1940s, radio was the main source of broadcast news, music, and other types of programming until the invention  of television in the late 1940s.

Radiology

Most people have had one or more medical imaging procedure known as Radiology.  Radiology is the science dealing with x-rays and other types of radiation, especially the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Rates

The Oxford Dictionary provides two definitions for rates. The first definition is a measure, quantity, or frequency, typically one measured against some other quantity or measure.  The second definition is a fixed price paid or charged for something, especially goods or services. Rates are used in banking, economics, finance, investments, marketing, mathematics, medical billing, real estate, securities, and statistics.

Real Estate

Real estate is property consisting of a piece of land, along with its buildings and natural resources. The term “real” means real or physical property. Residential, commercial, industrial, and land are the four types of real estate.

Real estate appraisals are an important part of the home buying, selling and refinancing process. During the home buying and selling process, real estate appraisals are used to establish if the home’s contracted price is correct after considering the home’s features, location, and condition. In a refinancing situation, real estate appraisals reassure the lender that they are not giving the borrower more financing than the home is worth.

Large natural disasters can cause billions of dollars in damages. If only one company sold insurance policies to homeowners in the affected area, they would not be able to cover all the losses. Reinsurance is a type of insurance purchased by an insurance companies from other insurance companies in order to prevent insurance companies from suffering financial ruin, which would leave its customers without coverage.

 

Reliability

Reliability is the amount to which the result of a measurement, calculation or specification can be depended on to be accurate. In research, if the study meets its anticipated goals and hypothesis, it confirms that the results are due to the study and not any outside factors.

Religion

There are twelve major world religions in the world today. The six most well-known are Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism. The Oxford Dictionary defines religion as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. Each religion contains a set of beliefs relating to the cause, nature and purpose of the Universe when considered as the creation of a superhuman deity or deities.

Remote Sensing

When scientists want to view the Earth’s physical characteristics, they use Remote Sensing to collect images using special cameras. When these cameras are placed on satellites, they can be used to collect information on temperature changes in the ocean. Sonar installed on ships can photograph the ocean floor. Cameras on high-flying planes and satellites can take remote sensed pictures of large forest fires and map them from space. They can also track cloud movement to predict the weather or watch erupting volcanoes and dust storms.

Research

Research is the collection and evaluation of information about a certain subject. It answers questions and creates new knowledge. Quantitative Research is the collection and examining of data. Qualitative Research is the study of the use and collection of a mixture of case studies, interviews, personal experiences, and life stories.

Residential

Residential is defined as restricted to or occupied by residences. This type of construction includes single-units, duplex, quad-plex, apartments, and manufactured housing (mobile homes, pre-built).

Residential construction is an important part of the United States economy. More than half of all private construction spending in the United States is residential construction. This type of construction includes single-units, duplex, quad-plex, apartments, and manufactured housing (mobile homes, pre-built).

Residential Real Estate

The most popular class of real estate is Residential Real Estate. This class of real estate contains housing for individuals or groups of people for daily living. Residential Real Estate consists of single-family homes, condominiums, townhouses, duplexes, high-value, and vacation homes. New construction and resale homes are considered Residential Real Estate.

Retail

Retail is the sale of goods in small quantities to the public for use or ingestion, instead of resale. Retail sales are conducted in brick and mortar stores and online, where the retail industry provides the customer with a large range of goods and services.

Rhetoric

Rhetoric is the ability to convince, influence, and satisfy an audience in speech or writing by using figures of speech and other techniques. This type of persuasion is used in advertising, radio, tv, and billboards are used to convince the public to buy a certain product. Politicians use rhetoric to stir up emotional responses from their audiences.

Risk

The term “risk” essentially refers to the possibility of suffering harm or loss and danger. It is associated with multiple industries and backgrounds including but not limited to insurance, risk management, economics, toxicology, insurance, agriculture, medicine, environment, finance, real estate, and law enforcement, among many others.

Risk Analysis

In 2018, there were more natural disasters in the U.S. than ever. Wildfires were experienced by eleven western states. Category 5 hurricane Michael made landfall in Florida and Category 4 Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas.  1,000-year flooding affected Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin. Eighty-two tornadoes were experienced from Western Louisiana and Arkansas to South Florida and West Virginia. Risk analysis is important for businesses in areas that frequently experience these natural disasters.

Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment is the process companies, corporations and organizations use to identify hazards and risk factors that could cause harm to their businesses. By identifying these hazards, these businesses can study the risks associated with those hazards that could negatively affect their ability to conduct business.

Risk Management

Risk management is the practice of identifying, evaluating and controlling the risks to an organization. These risks can be the result of financial insecurity, legal problems, lack of strategic management, accidents, errors, and natural disasters. The purpose of developing a risk management plan is to identify a problem before it happens. By developing a plan to reduce harmful effects, a company can successfully deal with the problem, serve their customers, and continue to achieve their goals.

RNA

Ribonucleic acid, or RNA, is a polymeric molecule that is a fundamental part of coding, decoding, regulation, and expression of genes. RNA experts are often retained for the knowledge in the areas of genetics, treatment of autoimmune diseases, product research, and DNA sequencing.

Robotics

Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, structural disposition, manufacture, and application of robots. electro-mechanical machines, which are usually guided by computer and electronic programming are part of robotics.
