I have 15 years of experience, and specialize in the field of sociology with specific knowledge in the areas of immigration policy, immigration enforcement and social welfare policy. I have published on such topics as immigration enforcement (local enforcement), the outcomes of welfare reform for immigrant communiites, and the changing meaning of “white”, “black” and “brown” racial categories in the U.S. today. I have over 15 years of experience conducting research on immigration policy and social welfare policy outcomes for minority communities in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. My current research and writing is focused on immigration policy and immigration enforcement (with a focus on the current debate over the local enforcement of immigration laws) as well as the changing discourse on ‘race’ in the U.S..
