I have 20 years of experience, and specialize in the field of human factors with specific knowledge in the areas of human-computer interaction, educational technology and instruction design. I have published on such topics as human factors, problem solving and education. I have testified on effects of multitasking on performance. I practice what I preach. My research focuses on how to make teaching and training materials better and, at the same time, I have won the Outstanding Teacher award at Georgia Tech. I believe experts often forget what it is like to be a beginner. I think it is important to recapture the novice’s perspective and I try to do that in the classroom and in the lab.
