I have 11 years of experience, and specialize in the field of biomechanics with specific knowledge in the areas of orthopedic tissue properties, pathological changes of tissues in pregnancy and experimental drug therapies. I have published on such topics as materials science of bone, cartilage, and dental enamel, drug studies to improve bone mass and bone ingrowth into implant materials. I am a female, assistant professor in mechanical engineering who applies engineering and materials science tools to study issues such as why babies are born prematurely and how to prevent bone loss in microgravity. I have performed research to test drug efficacy on two space shuttle missions.
