I have 11 years of experience, and specialize in the field of anthropology of religion and politics with specific knowledge in the areas of Asian religions, culture and political conditions in Nepal. I have published on such topics as the relations between political-economic changes and religio-cultural contestation, international development (with particular attention to women’s empowerment and literacy) and Maoist insurrection. I have testified 10 times on topics such as security conditions in Nepal, violence against women in Nepal and South Asia and Hindu and Buddhist religious customs. I have spent almost five years in Nepal doing intensive ethnographic research in both rural and urban areas. I know the on-the-ground situation there extremely well and I speak the language (Nepali) fluently.
