I have 30 years of experience, and specialize in the field of education and minority community affairs with specific knowledge in the areas of institutional inequalities, educational injustices and Latina and Latino issues. I have published on such topics as education and pedagogy, racism and multiculturalism and class inequalities. I served as the principal investigator for a comprehensive research study on the pervasiveness of inequities within higher education, involved in film and radio production, a community journalist. I am also a registered nurse and licensed psychotherapist. In addition, I am both an artist and poet. This combination of expertise has provided me with an integrated sensibility to evaluate relationships and institutions and arrive to conclusions from multidimensional perspectives and approaches.
