I have 52 years of experience, and specialize in the field of ornithology and animal behavior with specific knowledge in the areas of animal navigation, pigeon behavior and loon biology. I have published on such topics as bird navigation, spider hearing and loon acoustic communication and behavior. I have taught animal behavior, animal physiology and general biology. I have served as an administrator as department chair, director of the division of biology and most recently as dean of the university faculty.
