I have 30 years of experience in the field of psychology, with specific knowledge of language, its development and use, reading ability and sex differences in mental skills. I have published on such topics as developmental dyslexia, reading achievement, and perception of English by native and non-native speakers. I have testified on the meanings and implications of words and affixes and the requirements for tenure. While my research involves language perception and its development, I have broad training and interests. I have lived in Japan and in Italy and do consulting work for educational software, as well as directing programs for improving the school readiness of disadvantaged children.
