I have 40 years of experience, and specialize in the field of physiology and biophysics with specific knowledge in the areas of ion channel function, diseases of ion channels and toxins and other blockers of ion channels. I have published on such topics as ion channel malfunction in genetic diseases, effect of toxins on ion channels and action of local anesthetics. I have had a largely academic career, although I worked for 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry. My research has focused on the function and malfunction of the ion channels that regulate the excitable properties of nerve and muscle cells. To this end I have examined disease mutants and studied the effects of toxins that target ion channels. I also have vast experience in statistics and probability theory.
