I have 38 years of experience, and specialize in the field of American culture studies with specific knowledge in the areas of masculinity, anti-gay prejudice and men’s relationships. I have published on such topics as men’s relationships in everyday photography, men’s relationships in American film and homophobia in everyday life. In addition to my activity as a published scholar, I have had longtime, noteworthy success as a classroom teacher. The single best indication of my national reputation was the invitation I received to address a symposium on vernacular photography at the National Gallery of Art.
